Congratulations on your desire to dedicate your child to the Lord!
Renforth Baptist Church is eager to assist your family in this very important event. It is essential that you understand the concept of Baby Dedication at this church.
What is Baby Dedication?
Renforth Baptist Church practices baby dedications, rather than baby baptisms or christenings. We believe that baby dedication is each parent's commitment to do everything to raise the child by modelling Godly principles, with the desire that the child will become a follower of Jesus Christ. It is also a covenant act of entrusting those children into the community of the church. After the ceremony, we provide a baby dedication certificate, a precious and priceless memory for parents.
The dedication ceremony is not a guarantee of the child's spiritual future or eternal destiny. When older, it is up to the child to make a personal commitment to faith in Jesus Christ.
A Biblical Model
In 1 Samuel 1:26-28, Hannah dedicates her son Samuel to the Lord. A second model is found in the life of Jesus, as described in Luke 2:22-40, where Joseph and Mary bring Jesus to the temple to present him to God.
